Through a calling from the Lord on 5 September 1995, after receiving a vision from the Lord while praying, Raymond Lombard started a mission movement, which would become known as “Wheels for God’s Word” (W.G.W). It is a mission organisation from his local assembly, working in Africa, doing missionary work in 33 African countries. These countries are: South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Madagascar, Botswana, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Angola, Democratic Republic Congo, Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Central Africa Republic, Sudan, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Chad, Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Niger, Togo, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Cote D’Ivoire, Senegal, Mali and Egypt.

Bicycles have been given to pastors and evangelists in Africa, which speeds up the process of spreading the Gospel by 10-12 times. In the past 22 years, he has personally trained more than 20 000 preachers and church leaders in Africa, and around the world. They have been equipped and trained in evangelisation and church planting by using the Heart-of Man charts. Three thousand four hundred and forty seven (3 447) ministers and church leaders received bicycles, and many motorbikes were given to church leaders in various countries in Africa - more than 20 000 large Heart-of-Man charts, 59 000 Heart-of-Man booklets (in many different languages), 4 400 pocket size Heart-of-Man charts, as well as many thousands of Bibles.

This Missions Ministry started in the Democratic Republic of Congo in North Kivu (Eastern Congo), in the region of Beni and Butembu, in the Ituri rainforest. One thousand four hundred and twenty (1 420) Pygmy village churches were planted over a period of many years. The result of this missionary initiative (Wheels for God’s Word) was that thousands of new village churches came into existence and tens of thousands of souls were added to the kingdom of God.

Firewall Africa Project

In October 2012, the Church of God World Missions Africa Council endorsed this evangelism and church planting programme as part of the strategy in Africa, to plant thousands of new village churches in the mission field. In May 2013, the Church of God World Missions Africa Council appointed Raymond as Chairperson of the Firewall Africa project, with the sole objective to evangelise, plant new churches, and equip laymen and make disciples. To date, more than 6 500 new churches in Africa have been started through this project.

Heart-of-Man : Overview of Mobile Application

Wheels for God’s Word has developed a mobile application for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, using an Apple or Android cell phone.

The Heart-of-Man presentation is based on the printed version that is used to evangelise the lost throughout the world. It is an effective tool in assisting evangelists and pastors, and is available in various languages.

The mission is primarily to reach the Unreached People Groups (UPG’s) and least reached people groups in the 10-40 window, and especially in countries where printed gospel media is outlawed. We are also active in countries outside of the 10-40 window, where the Gospel is not welcome, where faith related persecution occurs or the opportunity presents itself.
